Fat Isn’t The Only Problem Useful For Unfolding Spirituality

Welcome back!

Stalactites?

Stalactites?

These icicles hang off my roof every winter.  They could be viewed as dangerous to your heart (if you stood under them when they cracked off) or delicious to your nurturence, if you let the water melt and drip into your mouth.

A lot of things can be viewed as either good or bad.  Me, I prefer to look for the good in things.  It makes my life much more harmonious and enjoyable. And by thinking about the good, I’m creating more good.  I have a friend who focuses on “what might possibly go wrong” over much in her life.  With this actively in her mind, are you surprised to hear she lives in almost constant pain?

So, you got dealt the “fat” card.  It’s a problem to be solved, that’s true.  It’s also such a blessing.  It’s the raw materials for your own spirituality.  If you solve this problem, put the problem in its proper perspective, you can advance your spirituality to a much higher level and in the end of your efforts, enjoy the harmonious life I do through working with this raw material.

What’s the card you’ve been dealt?  Too short?  Too poor?  To dumb (supposedly)? Poor vision? Wrong school? Wrong side of the tracks?  It doesn’t matter what your one challenging thing is - and we all have at least one challenge - you can begin right there where you are planted and grow something magnificent from your challenge.  I want to encourage you to begin to solve the who you are from what you’ve got and do it right away. The payoff is so great for all the efforts you make.

Pat

Medicine Cards and Spiritual Healing

Snakes

Snakes

I thought I’d share something a bit different with you today.  I have a book and a set of medicine cards that follow the American Indian form of spirituality.  Every once in a while (it’d been over a year since the last time) I dust them off the shelf and take a new look at their sense of my life.

I shuffled the cards vigorously.  You never want the same old stuff, right? And then I chose one of the patterns of laying them out and proceeded to consult the book for the meanings.  OMG!  I cannot remember when a reading like this has been so poignant - so meaningful to me.

One of the main cards was The Snake.  Now please understand that on a spiritual dating site just before this reading, I’d been asked for several zodiac features, one of them being my Chinese astrological sign.  I don’t know that kind of info, so I had to look it up.  I was born in The Year of The Snake.  So when this snake card turned up, well, I was all attention! In the animal cards, this card was about my future and here’s what it said.

Transmutation - my ability to change.  What do I fear changing?  See the magician within.  The old is non-productive.  Release the outer skin of my old identity.  Move through the dreamlike illusion that has insisted on static continuity and find my new rhythm like a river winding to the sea.  I’m immersed in water and my one single drop is accepted by the whole.  Dance freely incorporating this transmuting process of consciousness as part of my sensual dance of power.

I was blown away by this.  It’s so appropriate for my life right now.  I thought you’d enjoy reading about it.

Love ya,

Pat

Who Did You Become BECAUSE You Were Fat?

Amazing Me!

Amazing Me!

Like the rest of you, I’ve kvetched about being fat all my life. I’m hyper-sensitive about “things fat.” So  last week, in the midst of my Memorial Day holiday, somewhere I heard a question asked about another topic and I turned it into the title of this Blog Post. I think it’s very, very important for all women of size to answer.

Who did I become BECAUSE I was fat? I’m just going to make a list here for you of what I have unfolded in my life due to being obese. None of these is a bitch nor is any one a brag. They are all statements of fact about who I have become courtesy of my cross to bear.

· I know that I am 100% capable of self-sufficiency.

· I know that while I might whine initially, very soon after the whine, I own whatever is making me uncomfortable, dissatisfied, angry, or off-kilter in some way and I fix it.

· I am enormously grateful for the innumerable blessings in my life. I have two friends who spent this holiday with me doing handyman work after driving six hours to get to my house, and two wonderful relatives who tried to do the same while sick but had to leave. Amazing!

· I know that I am resourceful and can find dozens of ways to resolve a need or a problem.

· I am generously in love with my Self due to my understanding of my nature.

· I have great wisdom, true brilliance and the willingness to help most others if I can see they make the effort to help themselves.

· I have a long, long list of skills and talents.

· I have a deep-seated sense of real spirituality. I thrive on Truth, Beauty, and Goodness.

· I am very quick witted. You have to be when surfer dudes yell “No Fat Chicks!” You have to react fast to smack them upside their heads when all you’ve got is words.

· I am a deep, deductive reasoner. The enjoyment at the end of this process is exhilarating.

· I have learned acceptance is the most practical form of love. I no longer try to change anyone. I accept them “as is” because they are just perfect “as is” to my eyes.

· I know that generosity generates and I enjoy being generous.

· I can manifest whatever I strongly desire using my mind alone.

· I adore being alive. I’m not planning to die any time soon. 126 is my goal.

I don’t want to think up any more. That’s enough. Not a bad cross for this fat girl to have had to carry, eh? I’m pretty happy with what I have unfolded. The payback isn’t always a bitch. I know that by persevering to love and accept yourself, you will. I’d like to help you do that. My book would be a boon and a blessing and get you on the right path.

Love,

Pat
