Is Your Body Mental Phenomena? Play the What If Game.

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

Welcome back!

Age 3

Age 3

Today, I want you to play “What If?” with me.  It’ll be a way to gain a different perspective of your body.  Ready?

What if, when you were born, you only had a tiny, little speck of a concept about your life and then your body, so your body looked just like your concept - tiny?

What if, as you matured, your sense of yourself involved input from your parents “My, you’re becoming such a Big Girl” so your body again assimilated your new sense and looked bigger?

What if grandma patted you on the head and said “Oh honey, you have such a good appetite” and you thought it was making your body too big, so that is what your body reflected back at you?

What if the ads on the TV began to talk about fattening foods, and your school teachers taught you that food had some effect on your body, and your Dad stood in front of the fridge so you couldn’t get in because he thought your body was too big, and then your body reflected all this out into a much bigger body?

What if you didn’t know your thoughts, ideas and sense of self was automatically reflected forth onto your body so you could see what you are thinking?

What if one sense you entertained said “I cannot control this weight gaining” so your body dutifully reflected it back for you to see?

What if this went on for just years and years so that you completely lost track of when and how it began; you only knew it was a giant, emotional pain?

What if you heard the medical community saying you were going to get high blood pressure and/or diabetes because you were a large woman, and you believed it, so your dutiful body (scratching it’s head and thinking “Are you really sure about this one?”) reflected back to you obesity and high blood pressure?

What if everything you’ve been told is wrong?  What if your body is only mental phenomena - a spiritual picture of what is going on inside your mind?

What if you changed your mind, changed your sense,  and began to think something better about yourself and your body reflected that back to you?

What if you persevered with the new thinking until you began to see changes, and what if you persevered until all the changes were 100% complete?

All of this is possible.  You’ve been doing it all your life.  You now need to set some filters for what you will permit in and believe — and thus, reflect — and you can, without diet and exercise, change the way your body looks.  Please begin. An untested idea is such a waste.

Love,

Pat

Getting to Your Goodness - A Love Story

figure-12Everyone has at least one cross to bear. No one gets away without at least one. Ever. Some crosses are big; some small. Some are heavy. Some are psychological and thus, invisible. I’ve always been particularly galled by the fact that my cross to bear was big, heavy and visible. Three strikes!

I’ll bet you know exactly what I mean, don’t you? You’ve felt it too. You know the pain. And you despise this burden, don’t you? I have felt that way for over 65 years. It’s only recently that I’ve been able to set down this cross, dust off my hands and knees, and settle back into the harmony of my own wonderful being and have that be enough. Did you just sigh and ask yourself “How did she do that?” I will be telling you the story about my how.

Obesity has always been and is still the main catalyst in my life. Trying to solve this complex problem has dragged me through therapy, dieting, acupuncture, spas, hypnosis, fasting, high colonics, the est training, the convent, the Church of Religious Science, weekend group intensives, spiritual retreats, indiscriminate sex, smoking cigarettes, smoking marijuana, studying Eschatology, reading hundreds of books, hours of meditative introspection, making and losing dozens of friends, looking for satisfaction in my career, and swimming naked in an algae-laden frog-filled pool owned by “God” near San Diego.

You’re with me each page of the way. The growing incidence of obesity in our country clutches at my heart and makes me want to prove what I understand for me and then for you, because I love you.

You Are Another Me

I know that you are another me, struggling to discover your unencumbered self. I know what that’s like and that’s why I’m sharing my healing with you. You’re invited to step onto my path any time you choose. I’ll tell you the stories to catch you up because I’ve been at this for a long time.

You and I are in an incredible learning curve on earth during our few short years here. Ultimately, I think that the understanding we each unfold truly IS our life, and I believe it is the one thing of substance we ultimately do take with us.

This leads me to believe that when Jesus said “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends,” he meant “If you want to exemplify the kind of love I’ve shown you, share all that you understand with your friends.” That surely is what he did. It’s what I’m doing now, as instructed.

It is an amazingly powerful place that I’m in, writing to you with the full knowledge that with this writing and the processing of all my sublimated feelings of hurt and anger, I am curing my mistaken sense of self.

I can see your eyebrows go up and your forehead furrow with doubt. That’s okay. I’ve seen your doubt before. I’ve come so far in this process of healing my sense of self that I now know beyond any fear or doubt that I’ve experienced in the past, this time is the charm, the period at the end of the sentence.

This is an excerpt from “My Cats Have Seen Me Naked.” Reading the whole book can help you turn on the “I love and accept myself as is” switch. You can purchase it here.

Is Spiritual Healing for Obesity Only About Weight Loss?

Granny & Hiero

Granny & Hiero

I spent the afternoon and evening with my precious, darling grandson, Hieronymous.   He’s very close to four months old now and his smile makes me feel thin and rich, it is such an indulgence.  Who knew grandmotherhood was this joyous?

I got to thinking about some of the internal, mental issues I was dealing with last week.  In particular, without sharing all of the particulars with you, I will tell you that regarding some of my family members, I had to do a lot f work centered around forgiveness.  I posted on Twitter that you should give yourself lots of do-overs and you should forgive everyone for everything including you.  There was a good reason for that.  I was working my guts out to accomplish that very thing.

So is spiritual healing for obesity only about weight loss?  The answer is a decided “No!” Obesity is a mental mistake.  It is about thinking you are obese.  It is about protecting yourself from having to look at painful emotional issues.  And it is about emptying out from the inside those very issues.  When you complete this emptying out, your body will automatically change it’s size - without diet and exercise.

So when the folks who diet and exercise begin to gain their weight back again (and they always do, don’t they?) it’s because they haven’t accomplished the Spiritual Healing that needs to be done on the inside. And this message is why I blog.  So that you who seek the truth can begin your healing, find support here for continuing and completing it, and know that you are loved fat or thin.  By me.

Love you,

Pat
