Christmas & There’re No Physical Things In a Mental Universe

Monday, December 21st, 2009

Welcome back!

Marilyn, Pat and Lesley

Marilyn, Pat and Lesley

For you newcomers to the World of Within - Merry Christmas from me and my girlfriends with a reminder:

Each of my posts in December is going to be about the key factors intrinsic in my being able to enjoy the holidays without kvetching about food or weight gain, and how I got to this place….finally! If you’ll notice, there’s a category called “Christmas” on the right where you can read them all.  Enjoy!

My dream is that on New Year’s Eve, because you follow this blog and you tell your overweight friends to read it too, we’ll all be better prepared to move into 2010  with a basket full of right ideas to help us think differently about this overweight phantasmagoria.

Today, I’m going to be reminding you about how “mental” you are and that the universe you live in is a mental universe.  Trust me, if you can wrap yourself around this idea, you won’t ever sweat the food stuff any more.  Freedom in this area really feel great!

You can think.  This makes you mind, because only mind can think.  Let that one soak in for a while because I’m confident you haven’t really let it absorb in.  Do you realize what it means if you are a thinking, mental being?  Do you realize the height it elevates you to to recognize that as a mental being (since what you think is what you get) you are the gal on the throne? You are the one calling the shots by what you entertain in your mind?  If you are thinking “Egads!  All these desserts are going to put the tons on my hips,” guess what?  Your mind is in there thinking “You want what?  Now why would you add that bunch of crap to something so wonderful?  Oh well, if that’s what you want, I’ll do it for you.”  And then your very own thinking creates the thing you most fear.

Why is it so important for you to realize this is a mental experience, that you are a mental being? Two main reasons:

If we are physical beings, we cannot change permanently.

If we are mental beings, we can change permanently by changing what we think.

We have been taught that all the things we can see with our eyes are physical things.  I am saying those things are mental.  They have been created using the Primal Element, consciousness as the substance, and they have been formed using Mind, our minds, as the Cause.  You can prove this, you know?  You can think about something you really really want, and not let go of it until it’s in your experience.  Think about all it’s happy details.  Think about how you will use it and enjoy it.  (One big clue:  if you entertain thoughts of doubt or fear, you will stop the process entirely, so I’d encourage you not to doubt or fear.  Instead, expect your desire to manifest and it will.)

Merry Christmas,

Pat

Christmas for a Month - Spiritual or Mental?

Amy and Thad

Amy and Thad

This is the handsome Thad Matson family prior to the most wonderful addition this year of Hieronymous Rex. And on Thad’s lap is Percy the Magnificent, my Inbox Warmer.

If you’ve been following along this month, you already know that each of my posts in December is going to be about the key factors intrinsic in my being able to enjoy the holidays without kvetching about food or weight gain, and how I got to this place….finally!

In the past few days, I’ve explained that this is a mental universe in which you think because you are a mental being; that your mind creates what it thinks about; and that would make your mind Cause and all the things it creates effect. One of the most poignantly tasty pieces is the blog about effects cannot cause one single thing. For me, that is one of the most empowering pieces of info and one of the reasons I can eat comfortably through holidays without gaining weight.

Today, we’ll be adding to our knowledge around the topic of the meaning of the words mental and spiritual. There has been a spate of conspiracy theories wafting in the breezes ever since I became aware of such a thing as a child.  Everybody is convinced that somebody, somewhere is tyring to pull the wool over someone’s eyes.  I’m no different.  Whether accidentally or intentionally through manipulative propaganda, I think that mankind has lost the original sense of the words mental and spiritual due to the huge influx of religious opinion.  I guess I’m entitled to my opinion, too.  I think the two words are synonyms.

Spirit is that thing which animates us.  I hope we can agree on that. Some people call is a soul.  I think that mind or mentality is that spirit which animates us.  I will give you an example.  Let’s take a trip to the morgue.  On the slab is a dead body.  No life.  It’s so-called spirit or soul has departed.  Simultaneously, I’d ask you to think about “Can it still think?”  For me the answer is no, because soul, spirit, mind, mentality are all synonymous.

So, how does this help me not to gain weight over the holidays? If I am a mental being - a spiritual being - a soul being, then I am a Cause being, because it is spirit that animates me and I use spirit or mind to create things.  Food is what I create.  Food is effect and is has zero causative ability or properties.

What that means is this: the Yule Log is not fattening.  The turkey and stuffing is not fattening. The booze I drink is not fattening.  All of these are effect, and effect has no causative ability.

I know there’s a questions roiling around inside you.  “So what does cause fat, because I’ve been getting fat on these things for years!”  No you haven’t.  You’ve been getting fat when you eat these things because you are adding fat to them with your thinking they cause fat.

Ever heard a thin person puzzle over why we overweight women struggle over food?  What do they say?  “I can eat, and eat and eat and I never gain an ounce.”  They are using their minds to add zero weight gain to their eating experience.

Um, you could to that too if you’d like.  Go back through these “Christmas” blogs, read slowly, and take notes.  I just know you can shake this one off and enjoy the freedom I do.

Warmly,

Pat

10 Ideas To Turn Your Focus Within

Into the City Within

Into the City Within

In my Virtual Assistant life, I just made some travel arrangements for my client, and as I turn to my next task, writing this blog, the thought of travel still lingered in my mind, so I thought I’d help you discover some ways to get inside yourself where you can do some good - lots of good, in fact.

I believe that Jesus’ mission was to show us that our experience here on earth is a mental one.  I’m not confident his words were interpreted correctly.  I do think if you read them with the thought in mind to discover the mental perspective, you will. The more common (and I think inaccurate) interpretation led to the plethora of religious concepts in vogue today.

I pursued that avenue once and found lack lustre results, so I kept on looking. I discovered metaphysics of the Religious Science variety, and once I’d ferretted out the truth there and still had unanswered questions, I kept hunting until I found Eschatology.  I have no remaining questions.

The focus of that study is that life is mental, good, and individual. So let’s look at some ways to get inside and discover this mentalness called my one sweet life.

1.  Can you think? You must be mind, because only mind can think.

2. Do you emote? Emotions come at the end of the thinking process; you’re mental.

3. Can you remember?  Memory is a function of mind; you’re mental.

4. Can you close your eyes and still see pictures? Mind stores mental impressions. You’re mental.

5. Do you have a sense of what “I” means?  You’re mental.  Only the mind can grasp the sense of “I.’

6. Do you have desires?  Mental.  Desire wells up from inside your mind.

7. Can you choose right from wrong? You’re mind, because only mind can make this choice.

8. Can you learn? (Did you memorize the times tables?) Only mind can learn.  You’re mind.

9. Have you ever thought of a friend and had them call you? That’s a purely mental, in touch process.

10. Can you observe your own thoughts?  Only mind can do this.

Once you convince yourself that you are mind, you can take a trip inside any time you choose and see what’s happening in there. Here are two tips to help you focus and manifest:

You can only think one thought at a time.

You can choose which thought to think.

“Choose ye this day whom ye will serve.”  Puts a whole new slant on that, doesn’t it? Me, I’d choose to serve myself as long as no one else was dissed.

Once you get this conviction nailed down, you can begin to manifest what you truly desire. This is how spiritual healing is accomplished.

You’re always welcome to visit my book where ideas like this are spelled out more fully.

Love,

Pat
