Who Bugs You More About Your Weight - “Them” or You?

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

Welcome back!

I looked around at a few blogs today that deal with bodily issues - why you should deprive yourself of food, work your ass off by pounding the pavement, or fret over the weight gain that is coming over the holidays.

Pish tush!  What a bunch of piddle!  This kind of thinking will keep you chained to your scale forevermore.  do you want that?  Or would you prefer the freedom of understanding what is truly making you gain that weight?

Weight gain, like all the other experiences we create, is an individual, mental creation.  I know you don’t see it!  If you saw it, you’d have quit it long before you made it habitual and an ugly monster that seems permanent as I did.  You see, ladies, the reason I wrote my book was to explain all this to you.  Now I know you’re ramping up to autobahn speeds over this holiday thing.  So, why don’t you get your hubby or your best girlfriend to buy you a copy of the book for Christmas and you can begin to read it on Dec. 26th. And for all of the “thems” in your life who assume you value their opinion, just tell them you’re on it.

My 75 year old aunt got her copy of the book two days ago.  She’s read half of it already and told me she can’t peel herself away from it!  And that’s two generations ago, when their ideas were even more set in concrete. She amazed even me!

Wishing you love,

Pat

Do You Have the Guts to Change?

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

It’s true, I’m an old fart, and old farts don’t change easily.  We’ve gotten comfortable with “how it is” even though “how it is” may no longer be working.  So I challenge myself to change frequently.  Can I give up my creature comforts?  Can I do things differently?  Can I institute new successes if I change?  Can you change? We’re at a political place in our country where people want change.  I’ve got a question for you: should only they change or are you willing to change as well? How much would you be willing to do differently?

Would you like to think differently about yourself?  That would be a big change, wouldn’t it?  If you’re fat, you’d have to give up on thinking about yourself as someone who is somehow less than. You would have to stop expecting people to poke fun at you.  You’d have to stop looking at yourself in the mirror and wrinkling up your nose because you don’t like what you see there.  You’d more than likely have to take an inventory of all the negative ways you view yourself and one by one, change them.

That’s the kind of thing we talk about at The World of Within. I happen to think that if you and I and Obama do our changing all together, wouldn’t this be a better world?  Let’s do it!
