Happy Mother’s Day and Spiritual Healing
Welcome back!
Yesterday was a wonderful day in our family. I was in Huntington Beach and got to spend time with both my sons, individually and together. Our newest addition, Hieronymous, was precious beyond measure. It was a wonderful event and all the mothers were glowing.
I always look for the spiritual side of things, because I know that it’s there that the real stuff is happening behind what we merely do in our lives. I saw great love this last weekend. I saw consideration and caring. I saw generosity and warmth. No wonder I feel all filled up today. What a great weekend.
I had several grand meals this past weekend and I can honestly say, that I was focused on the enjoyment of them while I was eating them. Yummy breakfast, lunch and dinner. I stopped on the way home and filled up my fridge with new fruits and vegetables, a somewhat lighter fare.
What ideas run behind all these things, these celebrations and grand meals and lighter fare? I’m convinced that in watching how I think about these things, I actively govern my Self and my Body. I am convinced that my thoughts about these things (which frequently happen without any conscious recognition at all!) are the most important thing.
What did you do yesterday to celebrate Mother’s Day? What did you eat? What did you think about what you were eating? Were there any thoughts in there like “This is going to make me fat” or “I’m really going to have to exercise this off next week” or any ideas like that which make food on big boogey man in full charge of your body? It was only yesterday: give yourself a few quiet moments today to look back and see if you thought any thoughts similar to these.
Food is about enjoyment. It’s also about moderation. Life is a science and the ideas you think are the formula that create the result you get called my life and my body. Your thoughts deserve careful observation and gentle discipline. If you didn’t think it accurately yesterday, that’s okay. Knowing that now is wonderful, so just promise yourself you’ll be more conscious about it with today’s thinking. We fat girls have become obsessive about weight and size and intake. It’s a much better idea to gently consider that we are worthy of what we eat; that we eat all foods in moderation; and that we enjoy everything that we eat. Period. No need to add anything more to this.
Ideas like this abound in my book “My Cats Have Seen Me Naked.” I personally think you’d enjoy it. You can purchase it here.
Love you,
Pat
