Does Disappointment Make You Overeat or Overthink?

Welcome back!

So disappointed!

So disappointed!

There is a new man in my life.  We met online interestingly enough.  It wasn’t the same old schmooze.  It was genuine and respectful.  It was slow, not the rush-to-get-there type.  I began to experience genuine hope in my heart. After nearly two weeks of email, we approached the idea of a phone conversation.

I was all ready last night.  I’d sprayed on perfume and had the rose between my teeth.  (Sorry, sometimes I just can’t hold back the corn.)  I waited and waited and waited.  No call.  I slid right down into my old habit of dissatisfaction.  Then, the dutch uncle in me stepped up to the plate:  “What do you think his GOOD REASONS for not calling might be? You need to trust that everything you formerly thought was okay, really was okay.”

I created a list of reasons, decided all was well and would be explained eventually, and enjoyed my evening. So this morning, I got an email that  his kitchen pipe had burst and he was mopping furiously to clean everything up for hours into the night.  I’d had that happen to me over an ice maker hose leak two years ago.  I flashed back to that fateful night when my ceiling downstairs collapsed from all the water accumulation and the weeks and weeks it took to dry it, repair it, and re-paint and re-carpet.  My buddy has an uphill climb in store for himself.

I was able to stop my former habit  where I assumed the worst, and over which I used to eat to drown out the pain of the disappointment. Now you may not think this has anything to do with obesity.  Obesity is my weakest link.  When I’ve got stress or problems, I grow fat. So this kind of healing is part of the healing from obesity that I’ve accomplished, and I know it is possible for you too.

Spiritual healing is an ongoing method of getting one’s Self right with one’s Self, and I can tell you that there has never been such satisfaction like this for me before in my life.  And, he’ll be calling me again soon enough.  How nice though.  A man who can wield a mop!  Woo hoo!

I hope this germ of an idea about spiritual healing sits gentle on your soul.

Love,

Pat
