Natural Beauty is Within You

Welcome back!

Natural Beauty

Natural Beauty

If you can look at this picture of fallen down trees and weeds and think “Yes, it is natural beauty,” can you not look at yourself and think the same? Many of my long time readers have purchased my book “My Cats Have Seen Me Naked: How I Achieved Self-Love and Self-Acceptance While Obese” and you know first hand that I totally tout the Kingdom of Within.

I know that we teach best what we most need to learn, so trust me on this one, okay?  “Within” is where you need to get to if you want to love and accept yourself regrdless of the size, weight, color, height or any external attribute of your body.  Your appearance does one thing only:  it tells you what you have been thinking about  yourself.  Nothing else.

You know those skinny girls who are fashionistas?  Their bodies are considered all hot.  Want to know what they telegraph to me?

  • I am only what I look like.
  • I can be judged and criticized by my appearance.
  • Insecure men use me for arm candy.
  • I’m so fragile that if I gain 3 lbs., I think my body is ruined and so am I.
  • I judge things only by appearance.
  • I am a conformist and do not think for myself.
  • I think relationships are based only on appearance.
  • I think thin bodies signify something other than immaturity.
  • I don’t understand that mature bodies are supposed to get thicker as the years go by if not manipulated unnaturally.

My heart goes out to these youthful mentalities.  They haven’t as yet discovered the aspects of the kingdom within themselves where they are the Queen but they act like a quivvering upstairs maid!

When’s the last time you permitted yourself a decent, normal, well-rounded, healthful meal?

Big Girls of The World, Listen Up!

Big Girls of The World, Listen Up!

For me, there is something very appealing of bigness.  I like the round pink of my own big body.  Because I understand it’s whys and wherefores, I trust it in myself and in other big people.  I am drawn to it and I tend to be a bit skeptical of emaciating thinness, because to me it means “I don’t dare permit myself to be who I am.  I must be what society thinks I should be because I’m not at all sure of myself.” It’s the unsureness that creates skepticism in me.  I think that if you don’t know who the heck you are, and you have to insinuate yourself into some form so that others will approve of you, you don’t have enough courage unfolded yet to walk beside me and be my friend.

Would I stop on my own spiritual path and help you?  Of course I would.  I just wouldn’t invite you in to my inner circle.  There is something wonderful about loving yourself, accepting yourself, and relaxing into the joy of life’s experiences when you’re a big woman.  You’ve already discovered that the guys you are trying to please are so immature that they base their lives on appearance.  Yuk!  Give me character over appearance any day.

You’ve learned that this is a mental universe.  You know that you can think.  Only mind can think.  This would make you mind, hence mental.  You know that you are here to learn life’s laws and that your body size - whatever it is - doesn’t have a damn thing to do with this learning, so you focus on the learning and to hell with the body size.  Some of you may be surprised to discover that fat girls make it into heaven, too.  I suspect more fat girls make it into heaven than skinny ones, because when you’re fat, you have to learn to get beyond appearance really quickly or the feedback will bruise you to death!  Once you get beyond the immaturity of appearance, you get on the fast track to unfolding a real understanding of who you are, hence, heaven.

I talk about this a lot in my book, “My Cats Have Seen Me Naked: How I achieved Self Love and Self Acceptance While Obese.”  It’s my life’s story - funny, truthful, irreverent, and keenly insightful.  I wrote two workbooks jammed full of deep questions you can ask yourself to help you get to self love and self acceptance too.  You can find the book and the workbooks here. I wish you Bon Voyage and do email me at pat@theworldofwithin.com if you have any questions.

Warmly,

Pat

Hiero Matson

Hiero Matson

I get a great deal of inspiration about my own life from observing the pure soul of my grandson, Hieronymous Matson.  That’s his daddy, Thad, in the picture. Grandparenthood is a wonderful prize.  It allows you to review and reflect on your parenting experience, and refine what you accomplished with far less stress and much more love.

Little Hiero only knows “hungry, wet, and smile” these days.  He knows nothing about “size.” He recognizes faces and his response sure does make my heart smile when I get one. Each of us was once that innocent. There is not supposed to be misery in childhood.  If there was in your childhood, I am truly sorry.

But think for a moment about the state of innocence.  If  you had only been loved AS IS, if only  you had been accepted AS IS, you would not be kvetching about your fine self today.  You wouldn’t be tugging at your blouse.  You wouldn’t be wondering if people will judge you for what you choose to eat.  You wouldn’t wish you could look a particular way because then you’d be okay.

Hiero knows he’s okay right now.  He’s a well-cared-for, happy baby.  You can take yourself to the well-cared-for, happy state right now by loving and accepting yourself AS IS.  It’s just one decision away.

Resolve to be thyself: and know, that he who finds himself, loses his misery.
