I Am Grateful for Long Drives #30 Days

Welcome back!

Sunset San Bernardino

Sunset San Bernardino

Whenever I drive to Pahrump, NV, I get to spend hours and hours in my car, just thinking. It helps me to clarify my desires, and to focus my mental work to manifest those desires.

Last Thursday at 6 am, I left for Thanksgiving in Pahrump to visit my friend Bennie who is ailing. My sons were nice enough to release me from things family for this holiday.  I left at 6 am on Thanksgiving morning and the roads were so clear, it only took 3.5 hours.  This is my regular, non-holiday timing. On the way back, it took 5.5 hours for the same trip, although I left at 11 am.  So, as you can see, I spent a considerable number of hours in the car driving this past weekend.

I love long drives however.  I ask me to show me something I haven’t realized before for whatever mental project I’m currently working on.  Generally, what happens is that I proceed with my normal manner of thinking with the idea of “something new will be shown to me,” and sure enough, it happened again this weekend.

I realize that if you are willing to take only the step you see in front of you, by taking that one small step, the next step will be made clear.  But if you don’t take the first step, you, honey girl, are locked into place.  And if “what you think is what you get” and you continue to think the same old thing, it would be impossible for you to get something different.

And this is why I’m grateful for long drives:  I begin to think; I’m shown the next good thing - the next tweak for more good; and I begin to think that new good thing so that my results are bettered. Who could ask for a better life?

Love,

Pat

My office in 2005

My office in 2005

I absolutely adore working from home.  Take today, for example:  I have exactly one task for the entire day and then I can use the rest of the time as I choose.  My office has gone through many changes over the years, but this was the only decent picture I could find.  I use my third bedroom as an office.  It’s right next to my bedroom, so I can check emails first thing in the morning.

My pets visit me frequently in the office.  I installed a sliding glass door where you see the window on the left side of the picture above, and they go in and out through the office.  They generally stop for a quick pet on the return trip and if I am concentrating, they’ll just sit there and wait for me to realize they’re there.  If I take too long, they purr to wake me up!  :)

I am grateful for the flexibility of  hours, the fuel savings, the comfort, the ability to concentrate without corporate-America office distractions, and the low overhead.  I love the decor that surrounds me.  I have a calendar with pictures of my friend Bennie and his dog, Frodo; I have a doll that says “I’m a singin’and dancin’ Goddess of crazy Love’;  I have a brand new HP Officejet Pro 8500; I have the curtains that I made which match the border I installed (not shown in picture above); I have a wonderful tensor light for my desk area; and I have a wonderful new office chair that my son Seth got for me.

So, today, I’m filled with gratitude for all of these things and for knowing that I created them in my experience.

Love,

Pat

I Am Grateful For My Skill Set #30 days

me-penna-07-09

I have been thinking a lot about my skill set these past days.  I have several new clients pending, and I truly would love to welcome them into my Virtual Assistant family, so in addition to the basic administrative skills I have, I pondered about the strengths of character I have unfolded, as they are an invisible part of my skill set.  I call them the “intrinsic intangibles,” but they are so valuable. And here is what I came up with that adds value to my VA services for the clients who are lucky enough to work with me.

  • I have a high level of productivity.
  • I have endless creativity, particularly when writing.
  • I care about my clients success.
  • I am generous with my time.
  • My understanding lends savvy to what I merely do.
  • I am dedicated, honorable, and conscientious.
  • I always over perform.
  • I am an excellent and timely communicator.
  • I am practical and efficient.
  • I have a high degree of willingness.
  • I am an extraordinary worker - I like to work.
  • I have a long list of administrative skills.

I know that those who deserve my services are happy to meet me and to compensate me for my wonderful skills set. I am broadcasting this out to all entrepreneurs and in particular, coaches.

Love,

Pat
