Are you a cause-based or effect-based thinker?

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

Welcome back!

“I was brought up to believe that how I saw myself was more important than how others saw me.”

~ Anwar el-Sadat

If  you are compulsed or addicted to attending to your appearance solely as a means of self-acceptance, please consider Anwar el-Sadat’s message.

I believe you cannot spend your entire life focused only on your appearance.  At some point, somehow, someway, you’ve got to go inside of yourself and figure out just who you are that’s making that appearance.  Judging by the appearance alone is effect-based thinking.  Judging from inside is Cause-based thinking.

You choose.

And then if you want to learn how to do Cause-based thinking, you connect with me.

Patty & Bougainvillas

Patty & Bougainvillas

I think that life boils down to deciding to focus on the inside or focus on the outside.

I believe that the individuals who focus on the outside live in cool looking houses, drive smashingly awesome and powerful cars, have dynamite smiles, are built like brick shithouses, wear clothing with designer labels, are accepted by other members of society.  They still have all the things left to resolve that people who focus on the inside are currently working on.

Things like eliminating self-doubt in all it’s ugly forms; feeling good about yourself regardless of the words thrown your way; trying to prove things by purely mental means, so that you know that you are Cause Itself and can use it at will; working to unfold your virtue set and use it appropriately; being fully consciousness.

I know it’s not for everyone.  It’s the path of the Master’s.  It’s not for namby-pamby’s or the weak-kneed. It’s my path.  It was graciously bestowed on me when my chubby baby body got nicknamed Patty Fatty and I believed it to be true.  I know how I got here.  Do you?  Do you know what your one weak link is and how you can turn it into  your salvation as I did?

Will I always be fat?  As long as I continue to think it as habitually as I do now, most likely I will.  Would I ever have the lap band surgery to get rid of this big body?  Never!  For me, it spits in the face of all that I know I am capable of.  It says “I can’t” to things mental, and this girl just cannot go there.  Is it okay for others?  Well of course, and there is a mental way.  It’s just not all that easy.  It takes courage, perseverance, single-mindedness.  It does result in permanent healing, though, so I think it’s worth every effort I can conjure.

Hugs to you and love,

Pat

Fat Isn’t The Only Problem Useful For Unfolding Spirituality

Stalactites?

Stalactites?

These icicles hang off my roof every winter.  They could be viewed as dangerous to your heart (if you stood under them when they cracked off) or delicious to your nurturence, if you let the water melt and drip into your mouth.

A lot of things can be viewed as either good or bad.  Me, I prefer to look for the good in things.  It makes my life much more harmonious and enjoyable. And by thinking about the good, I’m creating more good.  I have a friend who focuses on “what might possibly go wrong” over much in her life.  With this actively in her mind, are you surprised to hear she lives in almost constant pain?

So, you got dealt the “fat” card.  It’s a problem to be solved, that’s true.  It’s also such a blessing.  It’s the raw materials for your own spirituality.  If you solve this problem, put the problem in its proper perspective, you can advance your spirituality to a much higher level and in the end of your efforts, enjoy the harmonious life I do through working with this raw material.

What’s the card you’ve been dealt?  Too short?  Too poor?  To dumb (supposedly)? Poor vision? Wrong school? Wrong side of the tracks?  It doesn’t matter what your one challenging thing is - and we all have at least one challenge - you can begin right there where you are planted and grow something magnificent from your challenge.  I want to encourage you to begin to solve the who you are from what you’ve got and do it right away. The payoff is so great for all the efforts you make.

Love,

Pat
