Holiday Eating Joy Without Guilt Over Food

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

Hello. Happy you stopped by. You won’t miss one juicy tidbit if you sign up for updates in the box on your right. Don’t forget, it all starts with “My Cats Have Seen Me Naked” – a permanent healing message for you who struggle with bodily image.

j0341748You probably think I should have provided this information BEFORE the 4th of July, but I really wanted your complete attention.  I thought that if you went through the holiday per your own norm, you’d now be able to observe hopefully in an objective manner what that norm is, so that when the next holiday, the next baby shower, the next wedding comes along, you’ll be more ready for it.

So, here are some questions for you to ask yourself:

  • Was your intake of food moderate?
  • For the foods you ate, how many of them caused you to think “This is fattening?”
  • For the foods you ate, how many of them caused you to think “This is bad for me.”
  • Did you find yourself throwing caution to the wind in lieu of your food cravings?

I did that for years.  What it did for me ultimately was make me a Diet Slave. Are you truly aware that diets don’t work?  Oh they work temporarily, but not permanently. So when they fail on the permanent side, you go back and do the temporary side over and over and over.  It’s like a rat running down the same maze over and over and getting no cheese at the end of the run.

How long are you willing to spend  your holidays obsessing over food?  I have a sister who has informed me that she will be doing Weight Watchers at a family wedding next week.  Not me.  I’m planning to eat only when I’m hungry; only what I really want;  only in moderate amounts.  Guilt free. When I eat the foods I choose, I never think ” This is fattening or bad for me.”  I only let myself think “I enjoy this.” Because thinking causes what it thinks, “I enjoy this” causes only enjoyment, not weight gain.

I thought you could take this to your next holiday.

Love,

Pat

NOTHING Can Make Me Deviate from My Project

I laugh at my challenges

I laugh at my challenges

Life is giving me a run for my money, literally, these days.  Without going into all the gorey details, my bank account has been tapped again and again and again over the last few months.  It’s been a bit disconcerting to have all these novel (although valid) charges continue to hit me.  Today, the last straw arrived.  I’ve been awaiting a wire transfer from a client who lives out of the country, and MY bank (that’s as in Arrrrgggghhhhh!) refused to accept the money into my account. I was dismayed over this news just a few moments ago.

Now, in the past, these were all great reasons to quit the work I was doing to mentally lose weight.  I’d throw up my arms in dispair and figure, “Oh the heck with it all! I’ll just go comfort myself with food.”  And that would be the end of my project.

Do you recognize the Dieting Cycle? I’ll bet dollars to donuts that you’re in it.  It’s called Diet, Quit, Despair, Guilt, Motivate, Diet, Quit, Despair, Guilt Motivate…..and the cycle runs on and on, and on, and on, and on.

At some point, you have to step out of the cycle, recognize what your behavior has been when you are in it, and then resolve not to go back to it again.  It’s hard, ladies.  It’s hard not to diet.  It’s hard not to get weighed and allow those numbers to make you feel good or bad.  It’s hard to quit doing what you’ve always done even when it isn’t working.  We’re like rats in a maze running the maze for no cheese at the end.  It’s hard to find other things to motivate you.  It’s one heck of a challenge to find another way.

I found another way.  My entire website, my book, my teleclasses, and this blog are all about another way - a different approach - a mental way.  And it works.  I’ve lost 35 pounds since last thanksgiving using mental means alone.  Courtesy of my lifetime of experiences, I learned that life is good, life is mental, and life is individual.  I think back to the movie The Truman Show and the same lessons I learned all tucked into that movie.  If you haven’t watched it, I recommend it.  Think about “good, mental, and individual” as you watch it and you’ll see it.  And if you don’t, email me and we can talk.

The moral of this blog is:  even if you become scared because of the tap on your monies, don’t deviate from your mental weight loss project.  The two are not connected.  Why go down on two fronts? Isn’t one enough?  Keep doing  your mental work to see yourself losing weight.  You will.

It’s about making a mental mind model.  It’s about persevering in thinking that mind model three times a day.  It’s about expecting success.  It’s about being singleminded and not letting yourself get distracted when Life waves Nah-Nahs in your face.  I give myself an A+ today.

Love,

Pat

Already worrying about weight gain over the Holidays?

Monday, December 8th, 2008

I wish I could put a cold compress on your brow and explain why, if you understood what I wrote in my book, you could go through the holidays without sweating weight gain ever again. Here’s an excerpt that might help you some, but trust me, it’s just a nibble.  You need to follow the thought through all the way from the beginning to the end of the book.

Can I prove to you that we live in a mental universe? No, I cannot. I can only prove it to me. I can encourage you to get busy and discover this for yourself, but only you can prove it to you. If you simply accept what I’ve said to you, you are only believing, and what you really want is understanding.

I am inviting you to understand this is the truth and I am encouraging you to begin your considering. In your bed at night, ask yourself to prove that it’s a mental universe. That’s how I did it. If you truly want answers to your questions, they will unfold to you from within your wonderful self. Keep asking each night, and every time you ask, your mind will provide one more detail of truth until the whole picture unfolds from within you.

I find that when you move over to the realm of the invisible universe, your experience will change magically because you’ll view life from a “what am I supposed to learn from this” viewpoint, and you’ll develop eagerness for the lessons. You cherish these experiences because you can understand precisely what you are unfolding, what character you are building, what specific good you are recognizing about your own good self.

You see, in a mental universe, where your thinking causes your experiences, if you refuse to permit yourself to think that you are gaining weight over the holidays, you won’t gain weight.  That might sound simplistic.  I heartily encourage you to read the book. It will transform the way you think about your Self.
